Welcome to the WiLDAF site!

Women in Law and Development in Africa (WiLDAF) is a regional organization which originated in Harare, Zimbabwe. It was established in 1990 as a step for preparation for the BEIJING PLATFORM OF ACTION in 1995, after the African women realized the need to have a Human Rights Organization to pursue their rights. At present WiLDAF membership covers twenty six countries in Africa, Tanzania inclusive.

In Tanzania, WiLDAF was officially registered in 1997 as a company limited by guarantee under the Companies Ordinance Cap. 212 of the Laws of Tanzania. It is a private, non-governmental, non-partisan and not for profit making organization, networking with other NGO’s and stakeholders in promoting and protecting women’s human rights. WiLDAF is based in Dar Es Salaam City.

WiLDAF (T) goal is to use the legal framework to improve the status of women, their protection and to encourage their participation in the development process.
